As with the refreshed 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, General Motors has also given the 2016 GMC Sierra a facelift for the new model year. The update includes a new front end design and bolder lighting.
Up front, the 2016 GMC Sierra receives new LED “C-shaped” daytime running lights that frame the new LED headlights. Other changes include a new front grille with a hexagonal shape that curves inward toward the new front fascia. The front bumper is also revamped, featuring new LED fog lamps.
While GM says more details are coming later this year ahead of the Sierra's release, we expect the refreshed pickup to get similar updates already announced for the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. While all Sierra and Silverado models with the 6.2-liter V-8 gained an eight-speed automatic for the 2015 model year, the eight-speed will now be available in certain 2016 Silverado pickups with the 5.3-liter V-8 engine. Other Silverado models with the 5.3-liter and all models with the 4.3-liter V-6 will continue on with the six-speed automatic. We expect the same changes to arrive on the 2016 Sierra.
Other changes to the Silverado we expect to see on the 2016 Sierra include additional safety technologies and an updated IntelliLink infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
The new Sierra will be available starting the fourth quarter of this year. Check out the entire gallery below for a closer look at the 2016 GMC Sierra pickup
