Food Diary: Here’s What Fitspo Sensation Kayla Itsines Ate Today

If you’re at all interested in the health and fitness scene on Instagram, chances are you’ve heard about Kayla Itsines. At 23 years old, the Australian personal trainer has amassed an army of followers who all swear her 12-Week Bikini Guide e-book has transformed their bodies.
In fact, Itsines’ hashtag, #BBG, has amassed more than 1.3 million posts from her legion of devotees, and her own Instagram account is followed by more than 3.2 million fans. Over one million women have tried the three month program, which involves 28 minutes of exercise three times per week.

This looks like just the beginning for Kayla, who has her eyes set on becoming an international fitness juggernaut. She recently wrapped up her first world tour, which saw her deliver free group fitness sessions to thousands of followers across the world, culminating in a trip to the U.S. this spring. She also told us that her guides are now being translated into multiple languages, and that her online store’s beefing up its international shipping to service the UK– small steps on her way to total global fitness domination.
So what does an average day look like for this incredible fitness entrepreneur, and what does her own food and fitness routine involve? We chatted with Kayla to find out.
For breakfast I had… Poached eggs on rye toast with lemon, avocado, baby
spinach and tomato.
For lunch I had… Homemade chicken ‘yiros’–a wholemeal wrap with chicken,
lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and homemade tzatziki (made with cucumber, greek
yoghurt, garlic and olive oil.)
For dinner I had… Avgolemono–a fluffy chicken and rice soup. It’s my absolute favorite to have for dinner with Tobi, my fiancé.
Today I snacked on… Mango.
My go-to healthy drink is… Water–keeping hydrated is so important.
The one thing I would never eat is… Paw paw!
My favorite workout is… Week six abs and cardio workout in my Bikini Body Guide. (A circuit comprising snap jumps, straight leg jackknifes, skipping, ab bikes, burpees, mountain climbers, scissor kicks, and X jumps.)
My guilty pleasure food is… Tiramisu.
The next big health and fitness trend will be… Acai bowls.
My favorite healthy restaurant is… A Mother’s Milk in Adelaide, Australia.
My favorite healthy snack is… Fruit.

Some of the fitness blogs I love include… Blogs written by my amazing Bikini Body Guide (BBG) girls, I love following their journeys.
I’m obsessed with following… On Instagram, dog accounts, and of course my amazing community of BBG girls!
The three ingredients you’ll always find in my kitchen are… Tuna, greek
yogurt, and mint.
My biggest health tip for anyone going on vacation is to… Walk, instead of taking a cab. This way you’re getting to see more of the beautiful city you’re visiting and you’re fitting in some daily cardio. If you’re working out while you’re traveling, get creative!
The workouts in my Bikini Body Training Guide can be done using minimal space and standard furniture in your hotel room. For example, try tricep dips on a stable chair and decline pushups with your feet on the bed.

My signature healthy dish is… My healthy, homemade chicken yiros or my tuna salad. It sounds simple, but trust me, it’s delicious!
The health app I couldn’t live without is… I don’t really have one particular health app that I use. I’m really excited to start using my new Apple Watch, so I’m really excited to see what fitness apps can be used with it.
Right now Kayla Itsine’s Bikini Body Guide is available online for $69.97, or you can buy the nutrition guide as well for a total of $119.97.
